The Lamentation of Jeremiah

The Lamentations of Jeremiah the prophet:

Lamentations 3:22-33 The Lord’s love is surely not exhausted, His compassion is new every morning. He is all I have, therefore I shall wait patiently for Him. The Lord looks with favour on anyone who seek Him, it is good to wait patiently for His deliverance. You may endure persecution, but rejection by the Lord does not last forever, He may punish, yet will have compassion in His unfailing love and does not willingly afflict or punish any mortal.

Lamentations 3:40-51 Let us examine out ways and test our actions, then turn back to the Lord. Let us lift up our hearts and hands to our God in heaven, saying: We have sinned and rebelled, You have not forgiven us. You have hidden Yourself from us, beyond the reach of our prayers. You have treated us like refuse among the nations. Our enemies jeer at us, our eyes stream with tears because of our fate.

Lamentations 3:52-66 Those, who for no reason, are my enemies, they drive me cruelly.  I thought: my end has come, but I called to the Lord, He came near when I called and said: have no fear. The Lord came to my rescue, He saw the injustice done to me and gave judgement in my favour. He saw my enemies vindictive behaviour and their plotting against me. He heard their bitter scorn, I was the object of their taunts. Pay them as they deserve, Lord, pursue them in Your anger and wipe them out from beneath Your heaven.

Lamentations 4:22 The punishment for your sins, daughter of Zion, is now complete and never again will you be carried into exile. But you, daughter of Edom, you will be punished and your guilt revealed.
