The Koran ; as described by Thomas Carlyle.
I must say it is as toilsome a reading as I ever undertook. A wearisome, confused jumble, crude, endless iterations, long windedness, entanglements and insupportable stupidity. Nothing but a sense of duty could carry any European through the Koran.
They say that in the Arabic it has a beautiful rhythm – unfortunately this redeeming feature is lost in translation.
Other scholars call the Koran a bundle of nonsense, got up to excuse and gloss over the authors successive sins, to forward his ambitions and marital alliances.
I too have read the Koran and I heartily agree with Carlyle, it is a difficult and repetitious read that is boring and quite childish in its presentation.
I believe it is a Satanic effort, that throws a very poor reflection of his credibility.
