Lord; Remember Your Covenant

Jeremiah 14:7-22 Lord, we acknowledge our wicked ways and the guilt of our forefathers. We have sinned against You, but remember the Covenant You made with Your people [all righteous believers] and do not make it void.

Neither the false gods of the nations or the sky of itself can give rain and heal us. In You: God of Israel, we put our hope and trust, You alone made all things.

Though our sins testify against us, yet we ask that You take action in our time of trouble and distress, for Your own Name’s sake. Hope of Israel – our saviour, must You be like a stranger to us, like a traveller passing through on his journey? You are in our midst, Lord and we bear Your Name. [Christians] Do not forsake us!

The prophets say disaster will not befall us, for You will give lasting prosperity to us. These are lies that those false prophets are saying, the Lord has not sent them or commissioned them. Those who give false visions, write misleading fiction and promote wrong theories, will meet their end.

The Lord says of Judah: They love to stray from My ways, therefore I have no more pleasure in them. I will remember their guilt and punish them for their sins. Do not pray for the wellbeing of this people, though they fast and sacrifice, I shall not accept them. I will make an end of them with My sword of judgement. I will pour down upon them the disaster they deserve and there will be no one to bury them. Reference: REB. Some verses abridged and paraphrased.
