I shall restore the fortunes of Judah and Israel. Now; every born again Christian, from every race, nation and language.
Jeremiah 33:1-5 This tells how Jeremiah is imprisoned for his prophecy and how Judah will be conquered by the Babylonians.
Jeremiah 33:6-9 Nevertheless, I shall bring healing and care to Judah and Israel, they will see lasting peace and security. I will restore their fortunes and rebuild them as they once were. I shall cleanse them of their sins and forgive their evil deeds.
This city will bring Me renown from all the nations, they will be filled with awe and will tremble because of all the blessings and prosperity that I bestow on her.
Not fulfilled yet. Jerusalem, throughout all history, conquered, divided and is hardly a place to inspire awe and fear.
Jeremiah 33:10-11 This place is in ruins and desolate. [after the Lord’s Day of vengeance] Yet once again, will be heard joy, gladness and praise to Y’hovah. His people, bringing thank offerings to the House of the Lord, saying: give thanks to God Almighty, for He is good, His love endures forever. [The Temple is rebuilt]
Jeremiah 33:12-13 Once again shepherds will keep their flocks. I will fulfil My gracious promises. [On the hills of Samaria, the Negev, Gaza, all the Sinai Peninsula, territory of Benjamin and Judea – all areas currently inhabited by non Israelites]
Jeremiah 33:14-16 The days are coming when I shall bestow on Israel and Judah all the blessings that I have promised to them. In those days, at that time, I shall make a branch come from David’s line; he will lead the people in justice and righteousness.
[Jesus is a Branch of David’s line, however all this will happen before His Return and Millennium reign. This may refer to Zerubabbel, Haggai 2:23, or another leader, as in Jeremiah 30:21.]
Jeremiah 33:17-22 David will never lack a successor on the throne of Israel, nor will there ever lack a Levitical priest to present the offerings. I cannot break My covenant with David, his descendants will be innumerable.
[This promise to David has been a problem for generations of Bible scholars. But, the fact is – there HAS been a continuous line of rulers over part of Israel in exile and that is the Royal house of Ireland, Scotland and England. This line goes back to Herremon, King of Ireland, descendant of Zarah, who married Tea Tephi, daughter of Zedekiah of the line of Pharez. Genesis 38:27-30, Ezekiel 17:22-24]
Ezekiel 21:25-26 You wicked ruler of Judah [Zedekiah] your fate has come upon you. Remove your crown, raise the low, and bring down the high. I will overturn, overturn, overturn, the throne and bring about such ruin as never was.. [3 overturning’s; Judah, Ireland and Scotland]
Jeremiah 33:23-36 Have you heard how people say: the two families of Israel, that the Lord chose, He has rejected? As the Laws of the universe are fixed, so I cannot annul My promises to the descendants of Jacob. In My compassion, I will restore their fortunes. Of ALL the Israelites; every faithful Christian person, having the faith of Abraham, Jew and Gentile. Galatians 3:24-26, Romans 9:24-26
