Azariah the Prophet

2 Chronicles 15:1-2 The Spirit of God came upon Azariah, son of Oded. He went to King Asa of Judah and said; Hear me, the Lord is with you when you are with Him, if you seek Him, He will be found. But if you forsake Him, He will forsake you.

2 Chronicles 15:3-7 For a long time, Israel has been without the true God, without a priest to interpret the law and without the Law.

But when, in their distress, they turned to the Lord- their God of Israel, He let himself be found by them.

At that time, all the lands experienced much trouble, there was ruin on every side, everyone was harassed with all kinds of distress.

But now, you must be strong and not let your courage fail for your works will be rewarded.

2 Chronicles 15:8-13 King Asa then suppressed all idol worship and repaired the altar in front of the Temple. The people of Judah assembled, along with many who had left the Kingdom of Israel, because they saw that the Lord was with King Asa.2 They sacrificed 700 oxen and 7000 sheep to the Lord. They made a covenant to seek the guidance of the Lord. Anyone, young or old, male or female, who refused to look to the Lord, were to be put to death.

2 Chronicles 15:14-15 Then, all Judah rejoiced, because they had bound themselves by oath to serve the Lord and He had let Himself be found by them. The Lord gave them security on every side.

Note that, although many people from the Northern 10 tribes had moved to Judah, that by verse 15, the population is referred to as ‘all Judah”. Those who put themselves under the authority of the King of Judah, became Jews.

I consider that verses 3 to 7 are dual prophecies, also for our time.

What we get from this passage, is the promise of God, that if we wholeheartedly seek Him, He will let Himself be found and will give His people safety and security.

The chosen and faithful people of God now, are every born again Christian. 1 Peter 2:9-10, Ephesians 2:11-18, +  and all the Promises of God are passed thru Jesus, to the Overcomers; the true Israelites of God. Galatians 3:26-29

Jeremiah 29:13-14 When you seek Me, if you search wholeheartedly, you will find Me.   I shall restore your fortunes and gather you from all the places to which I have banished you. I shall resettle you in the Land from which you went into exile.
